White Chocolate Doughnut Poppers #Choctoberfest

White Chocolate Doughnut Poppers - Triple Chocolate Kitchen

When Allison and I started planning #Choctoberfest with Imperial Sugar, I automatically was put in charge of coming up with some white chocolate recipes since I LOVE it and my sister is not a fan.

Loving white chocolate is something I share with our dad. Growing up, my mom would have to search for white chocolate bunnies for the ‘Easter Bunny’ to bring both my dad and I every year. We’d both be a little disappointed to find milk instead of white chocolate Easter morning… but not THAT disappointed because hey, chocolate is chocolate!

Lindt Chocolate is one our #Choctoberfest sponsors this year and when I received a White Chocolate CLASSIC RECIPE chocolate bar (among several others!), I knew I had to find a recipe to use that one for sure!

Frying donuts is something I’ve never tried before, yet have always been interested to try. When I came across this recipe pinned from Oh My God Chocolate Desserts, I was intrigued…  White chocolate? Check. A new challenge? Check. A delicious looking recipe? SOLD.

I’ll be honest, I was a little intimidated by the idea of frying donuts. But it wasn’t hard at all! I will warn you though… unless you’ve fried doughnut holes before, I recommend only putting three or four in the oil at a time. Any more and it’s hard to fry them evenly.

These poppers are so good I’d even eat them without the filling! It’s an option if you’re looking to make a ‘skinny’ version of this recipe. But c’mon… It’s #Chocoberfest after all. You might as well go all out! Speaking of going all out, have you heard about the huge chocolate gift pack we’re giving away?!? Enter to win here.

Good luck trying not to eat your ingredients while making this recipe. Lindt chocolate bars so creamy and smooth that it is tempting to eat them alone, instead of saving them for your recipes. If you love chocolate, Lindt also has flavor-infused chocolate bars, featuring Hazelnuts, Salted Pretzel, Caramel with Sea Salt, and Strawberries. Yum!

Oh, and if you aren’t a fan of white chocolate (like my weirdo sister), these poppers would also be delicious with Lindt CLASSIC RECIPE milk chocolate or even Lindt EXCELLENCE 70% cocoa (dark chocolate).

White Chocolate Doughnut Poppers

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Popper Dough
  • 1/2 cup room temperature plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup room temperature milk
  • 6 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Filling
  • 1 package of instant vanilla pudding
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4oz white chocolate

  1. In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon for coating. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine yogurt, milk, butter, and sugar.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Heat oil in a medium pot to 350 degrees. Oil should be about 2" deep.
  5. Gently roll dough into balls, each about 1/2 Tablespoon. Carefully place 3-4 balls into the oil until golden brown. Flip balls to fry evenly. Remove from oil and roll in cinnamon sugar. Repeat until all dough has been fried. While poppers are cooling, mix filling.
  6. In small bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix together. Melt white chocolate and combine with pudding. With a filling tip, pipe filling into poppers.
