I’m usually cautious about pairing a dry wine with a sweeter dish, but in this case, the two work really well together. The sweetness in the sauce for this shrimp really bring out the hints of cherry in this wine. If you are not a fan of seafood, this sauce would work well with chicken instead. Pour yourself a large glass of the Crios Rosé of Malbec – you’ll thank me later.
“Crios” means “offspring” in Spanish, and the name was chosen in honor of Susan’s two children, José and Ana. They have both now joined the family business, bringing a fresh point-of-view to this brand. We can definitely relate, since this is a family blog! It’s awesome to be able to work with people you love, doing something you love.
The grapes used in Crios wines are harvested from specific areas in Mendoza and Salta in Argentina, where you can find grapes that produce extremely fruit-forward wines, like the rosé we tried. Each bottle comes with an inspirational message and a story about Susan’s career and life, along with some information about how the wine was made. So… you aren’t just buying another bottle. Personally, I love wide rice noodles with any kind of Asian-inspired dish, and I’m currently working on perfecting that homemade recipe, since fresh is SO much better than the pre-packaged dry rice noodles you get at the grocery store. So stay tuned for that recipe!
