I have a problem… I live alone, but LOVE to bake and do so often. I’m always looking to share treats with friends and family so I don’t eat them all myself. My coworkers love when I feel like baking because I usually end up bringing in treats for them to enjoy! Many of them aren’t into baking, so they often forward recipes to me… just in case I feel the urge to bake and need ideas.
This recipe inspiration comes from a recipe one of my coworkers suggested. I just could’t resist adding my own twist. I love pretty cookies and I love a good drizzle. I love the combo of chocolate and caramel so I couldn’t resist drizzling both chocolate and caramel flavored candy melts on top of these sugar cookies.
My coworkers definitely were not complaining when I brought in these cookies for everyone for enjoy!
Here’s the recipe…
Sugar Cookies with a Chocolate Caramel Drizzle
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- chocolate candy melts for drizzling
- caramel flavored candy melts for drizzling
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cream together butter, oil, sugar, and powdered sugar until combined and fluffy. Add egg. Add vanilla.

Combine dry ingredients. Slowly add to wet ingredients until well combined.

Using a cookie scoop, drop dough onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Slightly flatten. Bake until edges just begin to brown, approx. 8-10 minutes.

When cookies are cool, melt chocolate and drizzle over cookies. Melt caramel candy melts and drizzle over cookies. (Want a LOT of chocolate and caramel flavor? Try dunking the cookies instead of drizzling!) Allow chocolate to set before storing.
