Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! My daughters Allison and Jess and my nephew J.P. made lunch for our whole family today to celebrate. What is your family doing?
We usually have a recipe to talk about and share, but today I’m going to talk about one of my other hobbies – quilting. It’s something passed down from woman to woman in our family, so perfect for a Mother’s Day post!
My grandma, Alice, used to quilt when she was living. Then my mom, Lena, started quilting. She made quilts for all our beds at home and has made a quilt for all our special occasions.
Now I have started quilting too. I just finished this quilt a few weeks ago, and I have another one about 3/4 done. I guess it is my turn to carry on the tradition.
I hope the hobby is going to be carried on by my girls too. Actually, Jess has done several smaller quilting projects already, such as baby quilts, and Allison just got all the material to make her first quilt.
Pinterest is a great place for new quilting ideas. We find so many great ideas for patterns. I wonder what grandma Alice would have thought about that!
Wherever you are and whatever your family hobbies are, I hope you have a great Mother’s Day and use it to remember all the important women in your life.
