Homemade Chili Powder

homemade chili powderI’m a big fan of making stuff myself when I can. I mean, I’m kind of lazy…but in the kitchen, it is worth it. My dishes may be piling in the sink and my laundry hamper may be overflow it, but gosh darn, if something can be made from scratch, I’m going to give it a try.

The taste is just SO much better! (And usually you’ll save money too.)

Later this week, I’ll be posting a chili recipe that I love. So before I did that, I wanted to give y’all my recipe for homemade chili powder. You can customize slightly based on your family’s tastes and what spices you have in the house.

And this will likely make a lot more than you’re going to use in whatever recipe you’re making. That’s okay. Simply store in an airtight container, and keep it in your pantry for next time.

Here’s what I use to make my homemade chili powder:

Here’s the ratio I use:

  • 3 Tablespoons Paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon each of: cumin, oregano, onion powder, ground red pepper, crushed red pepper, and garlic powder

Just mix it together and you’re good to go!
