If you know me, you know how much I love Julia Child. She was a strong women when you had to be awfully brave to be a strong woman. She was fearless in the kitchen and in life. She was imperfect and loved every bit of her imperfect self.
Julia Child died in 2004, but if she were still alive, she would have turned 100 today.
Next to my own grandmother, who is quite the wiz in the kitchen, Julia is one of my biggest culinary inspirations. So happy birthday, Julia!
I’ll leave you with some of my favorite Julia Child quotes:
“Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.”
“The best way to execute French cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken. Bon appétit. ”
“Everything in moderation… including moderation.”
“Remember, ‘No one’s more important than people’! In other words, friendship is the most important thing–not career or housework, or one’s fatigue–and it needs to be tended and nurtured.”
“Just speak very loudly and quickly, and state your position with utter conviction, as the French do, and you’ll have a marvelous time!”
“You’ll never know everything about anything, especially something you love.”
And perhaps my favorite of them all: “The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking you’ve got to have a what-the-hell attitude.”
Bon appétit, Julie.
