Anyone else excited for the Duck Dynasty season premier tonight? Or is it just me?
I love the Robertson clan, complete with family matriarch Miss Kay. In almost every episode, you see Miss Kay cooking up something good in the kitchen.
Sometimes even the guys get involved, like during the episode when they competed with the women to see who could cook the best turkey.
The things they say on Duck Dynasty crack me up. Without further ado, here are my 10 favorite food-related quotes from the show:
1
“You gotta treat a turkey like you would a lady friend. You gotta take your time. You gotta season it just right. And when she’s ready? Splatter a bunch of mustard all over her and massage her up.” – Willie
2
“What on earth could you be doing where you couldn’t wait 10 minutes for some hot donuts?” – Jase
3
“I am the MacGyver of cooking. If you bring me a piece of bread, cabbage, coconut, mustard greens, pigs feet, pine cones…and a woodpecker, I’ll make you a good chicken pot pie.” – Si
4
“Never underestimate the power of Miss Kay’s sweet potato pie” – Jase
5
“Food is the language. I know how to speak it.” – Miss Kay
6
“She may be an ugly woman but she if cooks squirrel and dumplins, that’s the woman you go after.” – Phil
7
“You can server a BLT’s. Beaver, lettuce, and tomatoes on whole wheat, the finest sandwich there is.” – Si
8
“The wine we have created kinda tastes like a cross between doe urine and jalapeno juice. And it smells like coon pee.” – Jase
9
βThe Robertson family and bad ideas go together like biscuits and jam.β β Willie
10
“Squirrel brains make you smart.” β Miss Kay
I think I’m going to have to try some of Miss Kay’s recipes here on The PinterTest Kitchen. I love rustic, down-home food like she cooks. And coming from a family of hunters, I can relate to some of the meat she uses in her recipes! Though I have to say, we were always more likely to have deer in the house, not squirrels and frogs!
Still, give me a deer burger to a normal hamburger any day. And sure, fancy restaurant food is nice, but it’s stuff like PA Dutch Pot Pie and my mom’s Pumpkin Bread always taste the best to me.
