I always though hemp seeds were just something really healthy people added to their smoothies. I didn’t think they were for me…
Just Hemp Foods was one of our awesome sponsors for #Choctoberfest 2015, and they send over hulled hemp seeds, toasted hemp seeds, hemp oil, and hemp protein powder for me to taste-test for the event…and oh man. I have totally been missing out!!!
These truffles taste similar to buckeye candies. The toasted hemp seeds provide the crispy texture, with each seed popping in your mouth as you chew. The hemp seeds have a slightly nutty taste, which is perfect for this recipe. I’ve been sprinkling them on my salads and adding them to yogurt. I’m a hemp seed convert!
In case you are wondering, hemp seeds and the other products sold by Just Hemp Foods are completely legal in the U.S. Many people get hemp confused with marijuana, but hemp products like hulled hemp seeds (also called hemp hearts) contain no THC (the chemical in pot that makes you high). They’re from a completely different cannabis plant. So, you can enjoy as much hemp as you want without having to worry about testing positive on a drug test or feeling loopy.
Unfortunately, it’s still illegal in the U.S. to grow your own hemp… but that’s where Just Hemp Foods comes in. You can pick up their products on Amazon, so it’s pretty easy to get your own supply for this recipe pretty quickly!
Or… you can win you own! Just Hemp Foods supplied some of their tasty products for our #Choctoberfest giveaway, and there are still a few hours to enter here. Make sure you do before time runs out!
