Chocolate M&Ms Monster Cookies from Triple Chocolate Kitchen

#Choctoberfest is a time for chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. Earlier this month, my mother came to my home so we could test out some new chocolate recipes. I was excited when she brought chocolate cookie dough with M&Ms, since M&M cookies are one of my favorites.

My mother first saw this recipe from The Baking ChocolaTess where nutella M&Ms were used. When she was shopping for ingredients she found a ‘ghoul’s mix’ of purple, orange, and lime green regular chocolate M&Ms. As she was preparing a cookie sheet to put in the oven, I remembered I had some mini candy eyeballs. We decided to add them for a fun monster looking cookie!

One thing we learned when baking with mini candy eyeballs, add them to your cookies AFTER they come out of the oven. Since they are basically just sugar, they can melt away to nothing when the cookies are baking in the oven. We recommend pressing them into the cookies right when you take your cookie sheet out of the oven so they remain looking like eyeballs, but stick to the cookie.

Chocolate M&Ms Monster Cookies

A thick, chocolate cookie with M&Ms and mini eyeball candies for a fun ghoul-ish look.

Course Dessert


  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup milk chocolate 'Ghoul's Mix' M&Ms plus extras for adding to scooped cookie dough
  • mini eyeball candies


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Melt the butter and let it cool. Beat together with white and brown sugars until blended well. Add vanilla and egg. Beat until just combined.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, soda, and salt). Add to wet ingredients and mix well.

  4. Stir in chocolate chips and M&Ms.

  5. Form dough into balls (roughly 1 1/2 Tablespoons) and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Add extra M&Ms on top, pressing gently.

  6. Bake for 12 minutes. Cookies may look under baked, but will form as cooling. Immediately after removing from oven, press eyeball candies into cookies. Let cool on cookie sheet for 3-5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
