Mother’s Day is just around the corner, so today I have a recipe and giveaway for you that is all about mom!
My mom is the “cookie lady.” I used to say that she is known for her Christmas cookies, but that makes it sound like she only bakes cookies in December. Her freezer ALWAYS has cookies in it. Usually several different kinds!
When we were teenagers, my cousin Kendra and I used to “steal” some cookies from the freezer. We thought we were so smooth. Yeah right, like my mom didn’t notice that all her cookies were magically disappearing.
For me wedding, I had a cookie bar and to this day, people still tell us that it was the best wedding favor they ever got. I know a lot of people do etched champagne flutes and stuff like that, but in all honesty, does anyone outside of your immediate family really want a cheap, personalized keepsake for your wedding. Eh, not really. But wedding cookies? They are a BIG hit.
Anyway, since Mother’s Day is coming up, I thought I would make a cookie recipe for y’all today, because cookies always make me think of my mom. 🙂
These bakery-style cookies have a double dose of chocolate, because seriously, what mom out there doesn’t like chocolate? It makes a small batch so you don’t have to worry about them lingering around too long to tempt you. But you can always double it if you want to stick half in the freezer for later.
Oh, and guess what? Some of my blogger friends and I have teamed up to give away a Kitchen Aid mixer! This giveaway is open world-wide (except where prohibited). You can give it to your mom for Mother’s Day or keep it for yourself. Either way, enter below to win! (Hurry, this giveaway closes on May 12 at 11:59 PM. See full Terms and Conditions below)

-
Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and egg and combine well.

-
Scoop onto cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes. (Do not flatten - these cookies will spread.) Allow to cool on cookie sheet for a minute, then remove to cool completely.
