4-Ingredient Homemade Dog Treats

4-Ingredient Homemade Dog Treats - Triple Chocolate Kitchen

Last week while browsing through Pinterest I came across a pin for homemade dog treats. Normally, I’d skip over a recipe like this since I don’t have a dog (I’m generally not a pet person). But one of my closest friends just added a new German Shepherd puppy to the family, in addition to the two other dogs they already have!

I decided to be a good Auntie and made them some treats. With 3 dog in the house (plus 2 other big dogs  that often visit), they go through a lot of treats!

I even found a cute bone shaped cookie cutter to cut out the dough. Depending on your dog, you can choose a smaller or larger cookie cutter so the treats turn out the best size for him or her. These treats don’t poof up too much in the oven, so you can expect them the be about the size on your cookie cutter.

The nice thing about this recipe is that it only calls for four ingredients that you may already have in your pantry: eggs, peanut butter, pumpkin purée, and whole wheat flour. The original recipe from Damn Delicious called for a lot more whole wheat flour that what I ended up using. You want to add just enough so that your dough isn’t sticky and you’re able to easily roll it out.

Tank and the girls came running to the door when they heard Aunt Jess coming with treats. Tank especially loved them! They usually have to sit and speak to get a treat but Tank was so excited he just could NOT sit still until he got one in his mouth!

"Yum! Thanks Aunt Jess!"

I have a feeling I’ll be making this recipe pretty regularly from now on.

Your favorite pooch will love these homemade puppy treats. Only four ingredients!

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. With an electric mixer, combine eggs, peanut butter, and pumpkin. Slowly add flour until dough until firm enough to roll out and not sticky (may need more or less flour).
  3. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface until 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out treats.
  4. Place cut outs on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Baking time may vary depending on the size cookie cutter you use and how crunchy your dog likes his or her treats.
